Urban Habitat Chicago

View Slideshow >

Urban Habitat Chicago (UHC) formed in 2004 to demonstrate the viability of sustainable concepts and practices in urban environments through research, education, and hands-on projects.

Echo Studio’s founder Dave Hampton is Secretary as well as director of Research and Development, which means he gets to take a break from the drawing board and work on unique things like planting collard greens on a Chicago roof, advocating for deconstruction (no, not the crazy French literary movement…), and looking for new ways to reuse materials people don’t seem know what to do with anymore.

Note: there is no active slideshow above. If you clicked on the slideshow link and it opened a blank window with nothing in it… don’t worry. Just go directly to the UHC website to see more of what we do.
