Urban turbines

UIC industrial design professor Bil Becker worked with Buckminster Fuller and has developed helical turbines which use centrifugal force to efficiently harness the power of the wind.
Reasonably sized and modestly priced, the turbines may be used on roofs in retrofit projects in urban locations and combined with solar panels to provide auxiliary or supplemental power to offset a building’s demand for energy. Turbines are scheduled to be installed on the roof of Echo Studio’s Warren-Boulton Residence.
