Chicago rolls

biker long fork

Feeling down when riding your bike and cars nearly cut you off? Appalled at the state of the roads or paths while heading west or through a park? Looking for those mystery bike lanes while people pull theirs butts out of taxis? Buck up, little cyclist - two local groups offer a bit of support.

Chicago Critial Mass, an advocacy group for an alternate mode of transportation that requires no fuel nor produces emissions, organizes monthly bike rides and incites a bit of fun on two wheels.

Working Bikes Cooperative is a Chicago-based nonprofit volunteer organization that helps close the loop on these human-powered personal transport devices. WBC “recovers landfill-bound bicycles, repairs them to working condition, and sells them to Chicagoans at a low cost in order to fund shipments of bicycles and bike parts to developing countries.”
